About this race
The Charleville International Half Marathon follows a fast, lollipop-shaped route that starts and finishes on Bakers Road near St. Joseph’s Foundation. The entirely paved course travels east from Charleville into County Limerick, reaching the historic walled town of Kilmallock at the 10km mark. Renowned for being predominantly flat, the path follows long, straight sections of road that run parallel to the main Dublin-Cork railway line. While the opening kilometer features a slight descent, the route includes one short man-made bridge before a loop through Kilmallock. The run concludes by retracing the original path back to Charleville, ending with a challenging final climb into the finish area.

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind.
