About this race

The St. Joseph's AC Pink Rock 10k is an annual road race organised by St. Joseph's Athletic Club in south County Kilkenny. The course starts at Green's Cross in Shambough Lower and takes runners through the scenic Pink Rock area alongside the River Barrow, passing through picturesque south Kilkenny countryside with a hint of the Wexford border. The route follows public roads through this rural riverside landscape and returns to the finish near the start area. The course is gently undulating, reflecting the rolling character of the local terrain. It is a chip-timed, AAI-approved event open to runners and walkers of all levels. Post-race refreshments are available at Rosbercon Parish Hall. The race also incorporates the County Kilkenny 10k Club Championships, attracting strong club fields from across the region each year.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
