About this race
The Run Valentia 10k follows a scenic out-and-back paved route that starts and finishes at the Knightstown Promenade on the picturesque Valentia Island. The course travels along the island's sheltered northern coastline, providing participants with constant views of Dingle Bay and the mainland mountains. While the terrain featuresa few honest undulations and a steady drag near the halfway point that offers a rewarding challenge for all abilities. Runners enjoy a 100% tarmac surface and a high-energy atmosphere, particularly at the vibrant waterfront finish line.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
