About this race
The Chris Harrington Memorial 5k takes place in Tramore Valley Park on the southside of Cork city, a purpose-built public park with wide, well-surfaced paths and green space. The race is run in memory of the late Chris Harrington, a much-loved coach and long-standing member of Leevale Athletic Club who passed away suddenly in 2024. Previously held around Munster Technological University in Bishopstown, the event moves to Tramore Valley Park for 2026, giving a flatter, more open course than its earlier home. The route stays entirely within the park itself, on tarmac paths rather than public roads, making it accessible to runners of all levels as well as walkers. Organised by Leevale AC with the support of club volunteers, proceeds from the race go to charity, continuing the tradition set in its first year. It's chip timed, with age category prizes and a strong turnout expected from clubs across Cork and beyond.
