About this race

The Ballymac 10km Run is a memorial road race held in the Ballymac Parish in County Kerry, organised in honour of Luke Silles, a young Ballymacelligott man who passed away in May 2025. The race starts and finishes at O'Riada's Bar and Restaurant in Ballymac, with a 10:30am start time. The 10km course takes runners through the roads of the Ballymac Parish, set in the rural hinterland between Tralee and the surrounding Kerry countryside. The route follows local roads through the parish where Luke grew up, passing through a gently undulating agricultural landscape. All profits from the event are donated to the Fenit RNLI. Sponsored by O'Riada's Bar and Restaurant and O'Sullivan Bathrooms, the event features trophies for top finishers, spot prizes, and refreshments for all participants at the race headquarters. There is also a 5k race the same day.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
