About this race

The Seamie Weldon Memorial 10k is the longer companion to the popular Seamie's 5k, held in the town of Ardee, County Louth, and organised by Ardee & District Athletic Club in memory of Seamie Weldon, a devoted runner, coach and club volunteer. First added to the programme in 2022, the chip-timed race is held on the first Saturday in September, with the club's base at Ardee Community School where the course starts and finishes. The route heads out onto the roads in and around Ardee, taking in the countryside on the edge of the town before returning to the school. Well marshalled and open to runners of all abilities, it draws club athletes and recreational runners alike. With finisher medals, an extensive prize list across many categories and a warm, community-driven atmosphere, the event is a highlight of the local autumn racing calendar each year.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
